Operations Manager 2

 Wisconsin Building Supply is looking for a motivated team player to join our Windsor team!

The Operations Manager oversees and manages all operations activities and personnel in the Windsor location. The Operations Manager may assist the Location Manager with sales and administrative functions. 

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Manages and coordinates all work activities of functional area.
  2. Establishes divisional goals.  Develops work schedules to meet these goals.  Ensures on time delivery and/or job completion.
  3. Purchases materials and supplies and monitors inventory control functions to maintain adequate levels of materials.
  4. Monitors equipment to ensure proper operation.  Develops and ensures adherence to the preventative maintenance schedule.
  5. Monitors costs and establishes cost controls.
  6. Performs personnel management duties including training, hiring, terminating, initiating disciplinary action, completing performance reviews and making wage recommendations.  Directs supervisors in their personnel management duties.  Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures.
  7. Monitors work performance and quality.
  8.  Reviews various reports and discusses successes and areas of improvement with supervisors.
  9. Coordinates work flow between departments and work areas.
  10. Works to assure excellent customer relations
  11. Monitors the safeness of the work area and ensures adherence to safety guidelines.
  12. Prepares budget for the assigned division(s), monitors the compliance to the budget and reviews variances with department supervisors.
  13. Complies with Company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  1. Minimum education required—High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Minimum experience required—5 to 7 years of experience in assigned division along with 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience managing more than 25 people.
  3. Special skills required—Understanding of computer systems especially accounting, sales and inventory.  Knowledge of building industry and support operations and/or the distribution industry operations. Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.  Must be able to motivate others and work with minimum supervision.   Must maintain and enhance positive customer relations. Ability to develop, promote and maintain good customer relations.    Ability to maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment. 
  4. Special Knowledge required— Accounting and basic math skills. Detailed knowledge of building materials and dimensional lumber products.  Must have a good understanding of OSHA requirements. 
  5. Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods of time, bending or stooping, regularly lifting 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds or more on occasion, and work in extreme weather conditions.
