Business Administrative Intern - Summer 2020

Carpentry Contractors, a division of Lyman Companies, is seeking an Administrative Intern for the summer of 2020!

This position will be based out of Montrose, MN and will perform a wide variety of administrative, clerical, accounting, and related support functions.

Our Internship Program is customized to expose students to different areas of work while matching career interest with projects. This 12 week paid program features three work dimensions; fundamentals, other duties, and project work.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with entering job information into point of sale systems.
  2. Monitor and work with Builder websites and updating our systems.
  3. Prepare and maintain reports and spreadsheets as required by manager.
  4. Assist various departments by performing a wide variety of clerical and support functions as needed, i.e. filing, scanning, typing, answering phones, etc.
  5. Provide back-up for other department Administration duties as needed.
  6. Attend meetings, events, and other networking opportunities.
  7. Project work to be assigned by location manager.
  8. Complies with operational safety and security policies and procedures.
  9. Complies with Company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
  10. Other duties as assigned by location management.
  11. Tasks are subject to change.

Job Classification and Compensation:

  • Interns earn a competitive hourly wage.
  • This position is considered full-time for the duration of the internship.
  • After 40 hours worked per week this position is eligible for overtime (1 ˝ times hourly wage).
  • Interns are not eligible for Lyman Companies benefits.

Qualifications and Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Full-time student who is in good standing with their college or university.
  • On track to a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in an accredited program in AAS in Business Administration, Accounting, Office Management, Construction, or related fields.
  • Legally able to work in the United States.
  • Partial to fast paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, very attentive to details and have good math skills.
  • Have good computer experience using MS Office products and can quickly pick up proprietary software.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs. on a random basis, standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time, and bending or stooping. Ability to travel and perform according to the requirements of the position; valid driver license
