2nd Shift Yard/Warehouse Supervisor

Location: Kirkland, IL

Hines Supply is looking for a Yard/Warehouse Supervisor to join our Kirkland Millwork team! 

Hines Supply has been providing high quality building materials to builders and homeowners in the Chicago area since 1892. Supervises and coordinates activities of respective area/ department with full accountability for results in terms of costs, methods, quality, quantity, operations and personnel.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Oversees all work activities of functional area of 2nd shift loading crew.
  2. Oversees inbound and outbound loads.
  3. Invoicing of outbound shipments.
  4. Maintains equipment and machinery.
  5. Retains quality control.
  6. Works to ensure a safe work environment and encourages adherence to safety guidelines.
  7. Prepares and verifies reports as applicable.
  8. Supervises personnel and ensures adherence to department/ company policies and procedures.
  9. Maintains discipline, fosters good employee relations and boost morale.  Performs other normal supervisory duties.
  10. Performs personnel management duties including training, hiring, terminating, initiating disciplinary actions, completing performance reviews, monitoring and making departmental wage recommendations.
  11. Ensures excellent customer relations/ service.
  12. Communicates with other departments in the location.
  13. Maintains inventory of respective area.
  14. Monitors costs of assigned area.
  15. Fast past work environment in a 12,000 square foot medium sized dock.
  16. Performs other related duties as necessary.


  1. Minimum education required—High School Diploma.
  2. Minimum experience required— 2 years of experience supervising workers and work groups in a related work environment, i.e. warehouse, lumber yard, etc. Supervising a workforce of 15 to 50 subordinates.
  3. Special skills required—Ability to develop, promote and maintain good customer relations. Ability to maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment. Must have a good understanding of OSHA requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  4. Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods of time, bending or stooping, regularly lifting 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds or more on occasion, and work in extreme weather conditions.
  5. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
