Sales Intern - Summer 2020

Location: Chanhassen, MN

ABC Millwork, a division of Lyman Companies, is seeking a Sales Intern for the summer of 2020!

This position will be based out of Chanhassen, MN

Our Internship Program is customized to expose students to different areas of work while matching career interest with projects. This 12 week paid program features three work dimensions; fundamentals, other duties, and project work.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Codes and inputs customer orders, pricing information and additional data into the computer system.
  2. Creates sales tickets
  3. Aid Sales Staff in quoting and ordering for customers
  4. Help Sales Staff with file management
  5. Aids Supervisor in maintaining stock samples
  6. Helps Supervisor with general office house keeping (keep sample and brochure areas tidy)
  7. Work on Continuous Improvement Projects for Supervisor
  8. Peer-to-peer leadership qualities with go-getter attitude
  9. Attend meetings, events, and other networking opportunities.
  10. Project work to be assigned by location manager.
  11. Complies with operational safety and security policies and procedures.
  12. Complies with Company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
  13. Other duties as assigned by location management.
  14. Tasks are subject to change.

Job Classification and Compensation:

  • Interns earn a competitive hourly wage.
  • This position is considered full-time for the duration of the internship.
  • After 40 hours worked per week this position is eligible for overtime (1 ˝ times hourly wage).
  • Interns are not eligible for Lyman Companies benefits.

Qualifications and Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Full-time student who is in good standing with their college or university.
  • On track to a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in an accredited program in Business, Construction, Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain, or related fields.
  • Legally able to work in the United States.
  • Special skills required – ability to operate computer, calculator & cash register. Knowledge of building supplies, applications, related equipment, and or/construction industry. Good interpersonal and customer relations skills and excellent oral written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidentiality requirement.
  • Must be able to walk throughout yards, plants and offices.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs. on a random basis, standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time, and bending or stooping. Ability to travel and perform according to the requirements of the position; valid driver license.
