Inside Sales-Flooring

Position Description: Inside Sales Support

Organizational Unit: Flooring Department

Position Review:

Assist outside flooring sales representatives by providing excellent customer service and sales information to customers. Provide support by entering quotation and contract sales data, ordering flooring products, follow-up and track material orders. Maintain a relationship with vendors to research flooring products to obtain specification requirements and special pricing to aid with sales. Task will require in-person and over the phone contact with manufacturers, distributors, and product representatives.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Respond to outside flooring sales representatives inquiries regarding product selection, entering projects into computer, placement of orders, requests for pricing verification and quotations, assist the Assistant Flooring Manager with scheduling deliveries, providing customer service and follow-up with customers to assure their complete satisfaction with JHM.
  • Double check orders and make sure all products are compatible with use intended. Catch errors to eliminate possible application concerns.
  • Create sales tickets and set up files for quick access so change orders and add on sales can be made quickly and efficiently.
  • Assist the Assistant Flooring Manager in maintaining stock items such as carpet pad, tack-strip, seaming tape, underlayments, various adhesives, etc.
  • Maintain a level of flooring knowledge to assist the flooring team in completing each installation without incident.
  • Assist by manning the showroom during lunch breaks, customer over-flow times and Saturday mornings.
  • Complies with Company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by location management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum education required – High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum experience required – Basic knowledge of flooring products, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Special skills required – Ability to operate a computer at a proficient level. Good interpersonal and customer relations skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as square footage, square yardage, linear foot, proportions and volume measurements.
  • Must be able to follow directions and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with limited errors.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, vendors and other flooring team members.
  • Physical demands include the ability to lift 25 lb. on a consistent basis. Bending stooping or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to read and understand basic drawings. Blueprint reading a plus, but not required
