Sales Internship

Department: LPT - Admin Office Services
Location: St. Paul, MN

Lampert Lumber is a multi-location lumberyard company that has been in business since 1887. We have 33 locations in five states including: MN, WI, ND, SD, and IA. The specific location of the internship will be based on our company and candidate’s availability.

What Will I Do?

Learn and support many facets of the lumber yard operation.  Roles may include:

  • Sales:
    1. Assist sales staff in estimating, ordering, scheduling customer orders.
    2. Learn construction products and share that knowledge with customers.
    3. Place and track product special orders.
  • Store:
    1. Provide friendly and effective customer experience to contractors and homeowners.
    2. Maintain displays and literature.
  • Inventory:
    1. Receive and locate stock.
    2. Perform cycle counts.
    3. Complete inventory transactions.
  • Operations:
    1. Fill orders in the warehouse.
    2. Join drivers on deliveries as a “helper.”
    3. Complete tasks to support Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Community/Customer Events:
    1. Represent Lamperts while participating in community events and festivals.
    2. Serve customers during “open houses”, education events and customer appreciation events.

What Is Needed To Be Successful?

  • Initiative to engage with customers and co-workers.
  • Desire to learn – products, construction methods, supply chain processes.
  • Aptitude to quickly learn multiple computer systems.
  • Ability to manage many simultaneous tasks.
  • Full-time student who is in good standing with their college or university.
  • On track to a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in an accredited program in Business, Sales, Construction, Logistics, Operations, or related fields.
  • Legally able to work in the United States.
  • Ability to randomly lift 50 lbs.  Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods.  Ability to bend or stoop.
